Creating a story by trying to Avoid it.

Upon musing the topic of narratives, I've been contemplating the notion that the Episodes' as they exist within the whole of the project appear to me as "Stunts". I would define my idea of "Stunts" as being creative gestures of metaphor, style, or technique. Ideas that while either contrived by their impulsive act, or arrived at through a process of juxtaposition are defined with a numeric code.

To explain Episode #1112 in the terms of a "Stunt"
  • I began the arrangement of edited "segments" by considering how they would reveal themselves as a story, if the "segments" were considered to be a "whole". (Sometimes I watch television with the idea that what I am observing are not a commercials arranged between "segments" but a seamless experience were the commercials participate in the story, like watching a video feed from a security camera.)
  • The Etsy account, http://www.etsy.com/shop/jellocheo,was created as to bring credibility to the concept that Gealloakeeo is a brand that is adaptive to other types of media.
  • By using the Annotations option on YouTube I then layered the link connecting to the Etsy store http://www.etsy.com/shop/jellocheo. I intentionally repeated this act excessively throughout the video, as to appear insistent as advertisers' sometimes do.
  • By giving voice to potential consumer's uncertainty regarding the value of the Product and it's cost. The fishing segment was included as a commentary on the notion of "Bait and Switch". To acknowledge the disparaged consumers role in the story of Commercialism is important. As spending is ultimately a critique of the required currency.
  • By exploiting the cultural trend of "Exploiting Hip Hop" as many Brands' do to appeal to a younger demographic. I consider the question, "Is there a difference in exploiting the music of Hip Hop and/ or exploiting childlike innocence as in Sesame Street?"
  • Lastly, the final segment was intended as a critique of the latter Hip Hop commentary. By establishing a dark ominous warning regarding the path of conformity.
